Why do you use BuzzSumo?

My role involves coming up with inventive online content ideas which support the SEO team with their link building efforts in a natural way. BuzzSumo is where we start our brainstorming sessions, discovering vital insight like which topic areas, content types and headlines work well for a specific industry. Acting as a structure to our ideas process, we can be confident that our ideas and strategies are relevant for our client’s industry and are backed with resource saving research.

How has BuzzSumo become essential for your day to day work?

As identified, the “top content search” is a key area in our idea generation process, but our use of BuzzSumo doesn’t stop there. When putting together content strategies, we are able to generate target lists for outreach through the influencer tool. We also use the tool to measure KPIs of our content pieces by tracking social shares and setting up alerts for any links which have been built. It is an all encompassing tool for our content strategies which offers everything we need in the one place, replacing the need for multiple platforms.

What is your favorite BuzzSumo Pro feature?

My favourite “pro” tool is the content analysis report. The data and information which it generates is client ready, meaning that it can be used in reports and presentations. We use it to analyse behaviour for a specific industry, which helps us determine our strategies. For example it helps us to make informed choices of when to post content, on which social network to post and help shape decisions on which content format something should take.
