To the joy of their fans, Blink-182 announced their reunion this week .
The news got us wondering: is this the most highly anticipated band reunion of recent years?
As always, we turned to the Content Analysis Report tab to get answers.
We analyzed the name of seven bands that made a comeback in the last five years (plus any name variations) and appended the keywords:
- reunion
- reunite
- comeback
- tour
- returns
- back
This returned a grand total of 37K articles, with no less than 27M content engagements… and it’s safe to say Blink-182 has some competition.
At no.1 on our list is 80’s American heavy metal band, Mötley Crüe.
Each headline penned about this band’s reunion earnt a cool 3.5K engagements.
Bottom of the list for average engagement were pop-rock’s favorite sad boys: My Chemical Romance.
But, even if you find them a little *much*, their reunion in 2019 still packed a punch when it came to total engagement, earning 7M – just behind Mötley Crüe’s 7.4M.
Since MCR have nearly six times as many articles written about them, it’s understandable that their average engagement score was a little low.
Although it’s still early days, content surrounding Blink-182’s reunion announcement hasn’t quite matched the buzz of other bands, and they come in at no.5 on the list.
Content engagement data like this can help you tap into the cultural zeitgeist, and is great data for analyzing trending news, and pitching stories.
